Continued PowerSchool Data Information
Experian letter sent to many parents and staff
Good afternoon,
Many of you have received an email from an “Experian” company offering information and remedy regarding a nation-wide data breach of PowerSchool data. As stated in January correspondence, we were NOT affected by this breach. With this in mind, our District OR-1 parents and staff do not need to take further action. PowerSchool, though, will be offering the same remedy to ALL customers. Again, they are offering this remedy to ALL CUSTOMERS.
Below is a snip from PowerSchool correspondence.
“Who is eligible for complimentary identity protection services and credit monitoring?
PowerSchool is offering complimentary identity protection services including, if applicable, credit monitoring services, for involved students and educators, regardless of whether an individual's Social Security Number/ Social Insurance Number was exfiltrated. In countries outside of the U.S. and Canada where the provider provides such services, PowerSchool is offering two years of complimentary identity protection services for all students and educators whose information was involved, regardless of what information about an individual was exfiltrated.”
My advice to anyone wanting the extra “piece of mind” the service offered by “Experian” provides, please do so. Make sure, though, to closely follow their regulations regarding signing up and exiting the program.
We, as a district, will continue to serve the security needs of our students and staff with the utmost urgency.
