Meet Mrs. Wusk
Hello All!
My name is Carrie Wusk and I teach the third section of Kindergarten. This is my eleventh year teaching at Bennet Elementary, and I get to work with some amazing co-teachers!
I grew up in Sterling, and attended college at UNL, graduating with a bachelor's degree in education with a dual major in elementary education and special education. I married my high school sweetheart (awww!), Mark, and moved back to Sterling. We have two beautiful daughters, Kaitlyn (22), who is a graduate student at UNO, and Callene (18), who is a Senior at Sterling Public Schools. After I graduated from college, I wanted to stay home with my "future" children, so I started a home day-care/preschool. Those fourteen years of day-care seemed to fly by and I realized my girls were in school, so now I could venture out and start my teaching career.
I substitute taught for a year, and at the end of that year was hired as a long term sub in the Bennet Kindergarten rooms. That spring I interviewed for the traveling teacher position here at Bennet and became the third section of 1st grade for the following year. Then I "moved on up" with those kiddos and taught 2nd grade for a year. After that, I was needed in Kindergarten, so I gathered my things and taught the littles for a year. Back to 1st grade I went, then on to Kindergarten, and that is where I landed! I've been in Kindergarten now for six consecutive years. Bouncing around the building gave me a unique perspective on what the kiddos learn in each grade level and a chance to work with some amazing teachers!
I can't wait to see how the year unfolds. My hope for the kiddos is that they leave Kindergarten with confidence and excitement for another year of school. I am going to have a great time learning with your littles this year.
